Travel costs

Using /town spawn can cost money, paid to the destination town's bank:

DestinationCost
Your own town's spawn0
Another town in your nation5
A town in an allied nation10
Any public town (default; mayors can set their own, up to the max) 10 (max 10)

Daily upkeep

Charged automatically every day — if a town can't pay, it falls into ruin, so keep the bank funded with /town deposit <amount>.

UpkeepCost
Town upkeep3/day (base rate — see below for how it's actually calculated)
Nation upkeep30/day (base rate)
Overclaimed-land penalty0/day, charged on top if a town holds more townblocks than its level allows
Per-outpost surcharge+0 added to town upkeep per outpost owned

Town/nation bank balances (and the tax-owed amount shown to residents) are cached for 600s at a time — a balance you just changed may take a moment to show up elsewhere. New towns are neutral by default: no — see the Towny page for the nation default. A single plot's price can never exceed 1000000, regardless of any multiplier above.

Event costs

Scheduling a town event (/town event create) costs the town bank a flat fee — see the Home page's Town Events section for the current amount and event types.

Trading

Player-run shops via QuickShop-Hikari — place a chest, set a buy/sell price, and other players can trade with it directly. Balances: /balance, pay another player: /pay <player> <amount>, richest players: /baltop.
