Town levels
A town's title and its mayor's title level up automatically as the town gains residents:

| 28+ | <town> (Metropolis) | Lord <name> | 448 | 4 |
Land limits
- Claim capacity scales with residents: roughly 8 townblocks per resident (see the town-level table above for the hard cap per level).
- A single resident can own up to 100 plots.
- Maximum price for an additional townblock: -1 (-1 means uncapped) — see the Economy page for claim pricing.
- Bonus (purchased) townblocks beyond the base allowance are capped per town level (see the level table above).
Wilderness
You can break/harvest blocks, use items, and use doors/levers/buttons freely in the wilderness — but placing blocks permanently requires claiming the land for a town first.
Hostile mob spawning in the wilderness is on. When it's off, existing hostile/flying/slime/shulker/horse-type mobs are periodically cleared from the wilderness (named mobs are not spared); entity types covered: Monster,Flying,Slime,Shulker,SkeletonHorse,ZombieHorse.
Nation Zones extend a town's protection into the surrounding wilderness for that nation's own members, if enabled for the world — members of a conquered town still get access to their nation's zone outside their own town.
PvP
PvP defaults to on for new worlds (force-PvP:
off) — towns and individual plots can toggle
their own with /town toggle pvp / /plot toggle
pvp, with a 30-second cooldown
between toggles. Outsiders cannot block a
town/plot from toggling PvP on while they're standing inside it.
Outlaws only take damage in
a town they're outlawed in, regardless of that town's PvP setting.
Protected mobs & jailing
Tamed/valuable mobs inside town boundaries are protected from being killed by players — protected mobs are also protected from other hostile mobs. Jailing is enabled on this server.
Neutrality & nations
- New towns are neutral by default: no (nations default to neutral too — see the Economy page for the daily cost of staying neutral).
- A nation's capital can go neutral/peaceful.
Chat channels (TownyChat)
Channels route by type — some are server-wide, some scoped to your town or nation:
| Channel | Command | Who hears it |
|---|---|---|
| General | /g | Everyone online |
| Town | /tc | Your town's online members |
| Nation | /nc | Your nation's online members |
| Local | /l, /lc | Players within 100 blocks |
| Trade | /trade, /tr | Everyone online (mutable/ignorable) |
Culture channels are separate from TownyChat — see /cc
<message> on the Home page.
TownyExtras (this plugin's add-ons)
TownyExtras is the custom plugin layered on top of Towny that adds everything on the Home page — culture/religion, house & lineage, banners, custom roles, events, and the spawn-hub event NPC. A few of its own settings, live:
- Random tick speed is set to 1 (vanilla default is 3) — crops and saplings grow slower.
- Tool durability loss is multiplied 5x.
- House names are capped at 12 characters, mottos at 32.
- Residents can change their religion after picking one.
/saplingsis enabled;/playtimeis enabled.
